As heirs to the ancient customs and techniques of authentic talha wine, we are proud of our role as guardians of the ancestral rituals of the Alentejo region and its old ways of life. This space for wine tourism is in the heart of a region that is home to a very special wine. Let yourself be inspired by a unique terroir and by know-how that dates back more than 2,000 years.

In the Casa das Talhas you will learn about the origins of talha wine, travel back through its history and discover the secrets of this artisanal technique of wine-making that was brought to the Alentejo by the ancient Romans. Sample wines of a singular nature, with unique flavours, and stroll amid our century-old vineyards, where the most traditional varieties are planted that give rise to our most renowned products.

Discover the Barrels Room, an iconic space where our whites and reds are kept for ageing in French and American oak.

1498 ROOM

This is the noblest room, named after the VIDIGUEIRA 1498 Grande Reserva, a unique wine launched to mark the 520th anniversary of Vasco da Gama’s arrival in India in 1498.
It is a limited edition of 1498 bottles, presented in a miniature chest of polished walnut wood, with a certificate of authenticity and ownership. This absolutely extraordinary wine is for true wine lovers and collectors.


This room was named especially in homage to the third Count of Vidigueira, Dom Vasco da Gama, where you can see exclusive wines ageing in French oak barrels, in an intimate ambience that takes us back to the time when the intrepid sea captain discovered the sea route to Calicut.


In the Aguardente Museum you will find out finest relics, dating back as much as 50 years.
This is where our wine brandies, pomace brandies and fortified wines are kept.


Just as Vasco da Gama discovered the sea route to India, dare to discover our ‘Living Wine List’.
Our wines afford the chance for you to explore new sensory territories, at the same time as telling a story in several different acts.


Our menu, rooted in the Alentejo, has been drawn up with heart and soul by the chefs of our partner restaurants.
