The Convent of Our Lady of Relics, the place where Vasco da Gama – Count of Vidigueira – was buried at his own request, has played a central role in the history of Vidigueira.
Stepping back through the mists of time, it is in the Casa das Talhas, in the Vidigueira 1498 Room, that you will set off to discover our top wine, a limited edition inspired by Vasco da Gama’s arrival in India. This is Vidigueira 1498 Grande Reserva (a red wine made from the Alicante Bouschet and Syrah varieties, aged for 26 meses months in French oak barrels).
Let yourself be infused with the Alentejo soul, voyage through our region’s traditional flavours, highlighted by a pairing with our wines, carefully selected for each dish.
Learn a little more about what it means to be alentejano, and during your meal enjoy a live performance by the Choral Group of the Adega Cooperativa de Vidigueira, Cuba e Alvito, of Cante Alentejano – a form of song that UNESCO has designated Intangible World Heritage.
